On September 11, four counts of intoxication manslaughter were filed by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office against a 16-year old boy allegedly driving a pickup truck while intoxicated.
Ethan Couch was speeding almost 30 miles above the 40-mph limit when he hit a parked SUV on the side of the road that had a flat tire on June 15. Youth pastor Brian Jennings, Hollie and Shelby Boyles, and Breanna Mitchell were killed, while nine others were injured. His blood alcohol was found to be 0.24, three times the legal limit.
If convicted, Couch will be facing a sentence of up to 20 years, but with eligibility for parole.
Couch was previously cited for possession of a 12-ounce beer can and a 1.75 liter vodka bottle in Lakeside on February. He was ordered to take an alcohol awareness class and complete 12 hours of community services.
