Recently, a survey of attorneys was conducted and 56 percent stated that in the last three years they have seen an increase in the number of women who are making child support payments.
In the same survey, nearly 47 percent of lawyers stated that they have also noticed an increase in the number of alimony payments that were made by women.
Although there are many possible explanations for this increase, it is widely believed that this is because women are achieving more success in their careers and are becoming the breadwinner in their family. This is then causing more women to pay child support and alimony payments. This trend is also affecting the amount of time that children are staying with their fathers pursuant to child custody orders.
