The Texas Advocacy Project has joined forces with the Travis County Sheriff’s office and created the Handbags for Hope project in order to help those that have been the victims of Domestic violence.
In order for this project to work correctly, the organization needs donations of new or used handbags and the drive will begin Feb. 29 and end March 19. After collected, the bags will be filled with information on the domestic violence hotline number and other pamphlets that will help victims stay safe.
The program began 5 years ago and has collected more than 13,000 bags. After the purse drive, children will be able to pick up the donated bags and can gift them to their mothers for a Mother’s Day gift.
